Ahead of the scheduled Flex Learning Day on Monday, December 8, we want to keep you informed about this year’s scheduled Flex Learning Days and how they will impact your child’s education.

Please be aware: Closing-related Flex Learning Days are used after two weather-related school closure days to keep the school year on track. More information is below.

Scheduled Flex Learning Days

Purpose

Scheduled Flex Learning Days are designed to keep student schedules on track while allowing teachers time for required professional development. On these days, all students will remain at home. Middle and high school students will continue their school work through materials posted on Schoology and opportunities to connect with their teachers during scheduled virtual office hours. Preschool and elementary students will not have school on these days. Before and after school activities and community education classes will take place as they would on a normal school day.

The upcoming Flex Learning Days for the 2025-26 school year are:

  • December 8
  • February 13

What to Expect

Preschool and Elementary School: No school on these days. The elementary schedule we have meets the state requirements for the number of school days.

Middle School and High School: Students complete school work and meet with teachers virtually. This work qualifies the Flex Learning Day as a regular school day because, without these days, we will not meet the state requirements for the number of school days.

  • Students will continue learning through Schoology and virtual connections with teachers.
  • Teachers will post materials to Schoology by the start of the school day and communicate when they will be hosting virtual office hours to support students.

Closure-related Flex Learning Days

As the weather turns colder, we also want to keep you informed about potential closure-related Flex Learning Days.

Purpose

In case of school closures due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, weather-related Flex Learning Days ensure that learning continues for all students, including those in preschool, elementary, middle, and high school. There will be no school work on the first two closure days each year. However, if closures extend beyond two days, students will learn from home through closure-related Flex Learning Days. This approach helps maintain educational progress and minimizes disruptions to your child’s learning, ensuring that the school year can end on time.

What to Expect

  • All students continue their school work from home.
  • Communication: You will receive information on where to access materials and how to connect with teachers.
  • Materials:
    • Preschool and Elementary School: Parents will receive an email from the district with a link to materials.
    • Middle School and High School: Instructional materials and assignments will be posted to Schoology.
  • Virtual Connection: Teachers will be available via Google Meets to support students and answer questions during designated times, which each teacher will communicate.

Thank you for your support of student learning. If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact your school’s principal.
